Since the company was founded many decades ago, APPL has grown into a significant European printing company, but has still retained the flexibility of a family-owned firm.

APPL gained its reputation as the printer of colour books in Germany back in the 1970s. Shortly after this, in the 1980s, APPL recognised the market opportunities for printed products in sub-DIN A4 formats and commissioned special web presses with a shortened cut-off especially for these formats.

Alongside the aprinta druck sheetfed printing business that had been established for many years, from 1984 appl druck became a specialist in web-offset printing. To expand the product portfolio for customer requirements, in 1978 Freising-based sellier druck was integrated into the Group, followed in 1999 by echter druck based in Würzburg. In 2005, they were joined by kuncke druck in Ahrensburg and PRINT.Forum a partner for gravure printing. The m.appl hardcover bindery extended the broad range of products offered by our Group in 2006.

All in all, seven companies – all with the one aim: satisfied customers.
